About Dr. Pieper
Dr. Steven P. Pieper grew up on the west side of Cincinnati, OH, and attended St. Xavier High School. He knew from an early time that he wanted to pursue a career in the health care, and coincidentally, he lived in an apartment above a dental office in Clifton during his college years at UC. The dentist was very kind and allowed him to observe some procedures. Once Dr. Pieper attended dental school, he realized that he enjoyed oral surgery as surgery is very hands-on and provides positive and immediate results to patients. He worked as a phlebotomist and lab tech at Good Samaritan Hospital during college, receiving direct exposure to a hospital atmosphere, making oral surgery a natural fit for him after completing dental school.
During his oral surgical residency after dental school, Dr. Pieper met Dr. Cassidy, and they worked together on various oral and maxillofacial cases and found they shared many of the same values and approaches to patient care. Dr. Pieper chose to stay in Cincinnati, OH, when searching for the right fit in a private practice atmosphere after finishing his surgical residency. Dr. Pieper joined Dr. Cassidy at Cincinnati Oral, Maxillofacial & Dental Implant Surgery in 1993. Dr. Pieper continued to teach part time (for eight years) at University of Cincinnati’s Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery after he completed the program. He is currently on staff at Mercy Hospital West and Mercy Hospital Anderson in Cincinnati, OH.
Dr. Pieper has participated in overseas mission trips, two times to orphanages in Bucharest, Romania in the late 1990’s, and most recently to Tanzania, Africa in 2015.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1984 from the University of Cincinnati. He went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at Northwestern University Dental School, graduating in 1989, where he was honored to be chosen for inclusion in the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU). Dr. Pieper completed his oral and maxillofacial surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center before joining Dr. Cassidy in practice in 1993.
All oral and maxillofacial surgeons are required to complete a minimum of four years in a surgical residency program. Dr. Pieper finished his OMS residency in 1993 at the University of Cincinnati. He gained extensive knowledge of various oral procedures including extractions, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, anesthesia and more.
Dr. Pieper is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has recertified twice since. He is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS). He is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) and the American Dental Society of Anesthesia (ADSA), and a member of the Cincinnati Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association, and the ADA
