About Dr. Cassidy
Dr. James P. Cassidy is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who grew up in the suburbs of Chicago in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He knew that he wanted to become a dentist since he was in the seventh grade as he admired his own dentist and the ability to work with his hands and with people. When attending dental school, Dr. Cassidy witnessed a lecture performed by an oral surgeon and became very interested in the types of oral procedures that are used to fix patient’s smiles.
He finished his undergrad and dentistry education before completing an oral and maxillofacial residency in Cincinnati, OH. He worked part time at two practices before receiving an offer to become a partner at Cincinnati Oral, Maxillofacial & Dental Implant Surgery. Dr. Cassidy believes in the ability to help people and solve problems with an immediate solution in oral surgery. He spends time with patients outside of the practice as well, using his hospital privileges to provide emergency and trauma care at Mercy Hospital Anderson.
Dr. Cassidy received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Lawrence University in Appleton Wisconsin in 1977. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry in 1982. He went onto his residency, finishing in 1986 in Cincinnati, OH.
Dr. Cassidy enrolled in an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He completed the program in 1986. He gained years of training in the administration of anesthetic options for patients, insertion of dental implants, extraction of wisdom teeth (third molars), and other oral procedures. Dr. Cassidy uses these years of skill and expertise to provide immediate relief to patients wanting to continue smiling confidently.
To further strengthen his spectrum of knowledge in oral surgery, he became board-certified from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1988. Dr. Cassidy has professional affiliations with several oral and maxillofacial surgery organizations, including a fellowship with the Ohio Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Cassidy received the American Association of Oral Pathology Award in 1982 before finishing his surgical residency.
Hobbies and Interests
His hobbies include snow skiing, water skiing in Utah, and golfing. Dr. Cassidy also enjoys platform tennis and spending time with his wife and three children.
